What making a website accessible involves

The work makes your website usable for people with low vision, people who navigate with a keyboard only and people who use screen readers. The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025.

  • Accessibility audit

We check the website against the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria, with automated tools and by hand – using a keyboard and a screen reader.

  • Issue report

You get a list of the pages and elements that fall short, why each issue matters and how to fix it.

  • Contrast and text size

We replace colours that are too faint and enlarge text that is too small, so people with low vision can read the content easily.

  • Alt text and headings

We write alt text for photos and charts and put the headings in a logical order, so a screen reader reads the page correctly.

  • Keyboard navigation

Menus, buttons and links work without a mouse, and the element in focus is clearly visible on screen.

  • Accessible forms

We give form fields clear labels and error messages people can understand. If the form uses a CAPTCHA, we add a text or audio alternative.

Why trust us with your website’s accessibility

  • Building websites since 1998

We know how websites work from the inside, so we fix issues in the code rather than just describing them.

  • More than a report

We fix the issues we find and then test the website again once the fixes are in place.

  • A report after every stage

You always know what has already been fixed and what comes next.

  • Tested on phones too

We assess accessibility on a computer and on a phone, because people use websites on both.

  • Free consultation

We look at the size of your website and suggest where to start, so the most important pages are made accessible first.

  • Working remotely

We work remotely with clients across Lithuania and abroad.

How much making a website accessible costs

The work comes in two stages: first the audit, then fixing the issues listed in the audit report.

  • Audit

    from €120

To find out what needs fixing on your website.

    • Automated and manual testing against WCAG 2.1 AA
    • Review of the main page templates

  • Fixes

    Based on the report

    • Fixes in the code, design and content
    • The most serious issues first
    • Re-test after the fixes

The audit price depends on the number of page templates. The cost of fixes depends on how many issues are found, the content management system and the number of documents and videos. We issue invoices; VAT is not applicable.

How we make a website accessible

  1. Free consultation

We discuss your website, its size and its goals, and estimate the scope, the approximate price and the timeline.

  2. Accessibility audit

We test the main page templates against WCAG 2.1 AA: with automated tools, a keyboard and a screen reader.

  3. Report and plan

You get a prioritised list of issues, and together we decide what to fix first.

  4. Fixing the issues

We fix the code, design elements and content: contrast, headings, alt text, forms and keyboard navigation.

  5. Re-test

After the fixes we test the website again and send you the final report.

Website accessibility FAQ

Does the European Accessibility Act apply to my business?

Since 28 June 2025 the Act has covered certain services provided to consumers: e-commerce, consumer banking, electronic communications, passenger transport websites and apps, e-books and access to audiovisual media services. Microenterprises providing services, with fewer than 10 staff and annual turnover or balance sheet of no more than €2 million, are exempt. If you are unsure, ask a lawyer. Check your business in our accessibility checklist by type of business.

How much does it cost to make a website accessible?

Making a website accessible starts with an accessibility audit, which costs from €120. We price the fixes based on the audit report: the cost depends on how many issues we find, the content management system and whether documents and videos also need work. The consultation is free. We issue invoices; VAT is not applicable.

How long does a website accessibility audit take?

An accessibility audit takes from 1 working day. The timeline depends on how many different page templates the website has: we check the home page, service or product pages, forms and the checkout. We agree the timeline for fixes after the audit, once we know how many issues need fixing and what kind they are. How we test and what we fix is described in our guide How to make a website accessible: 8 steps.

What does WCAG 2.1 AA mean?

WCAG 2.1 AA is the middle conformance level of the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. It covers criteria such as colour contrast, alt text, keyboard navigation, forms and headings. The European standard EN 301 549 applies these criteria to websites, so we test against them. The newer WCAG 2.2 is worth aiming for, but it is not required. Checklist of criteria: WCAG requirements in plain English.

Do I need a new website to make it accessible?

Usually not: most issues can be fixed on your existing website by changing colours, headings, forms and code. A new website may make sense if the current one is built on very old technology and fixing it would cost more than starting again. We assess this during the audit and tell you honestly.

Can you add an accessibility widget to my website?

Yes. As well as fixing the website itself to meet WCAG, we integrate ready-made accessibility widgets: we install them on the server and connect them to the website template, also when building a new website. A widget lets visitors enlarge text or change colours, but it is only an addition: on its own it does not make a website compliant.
